Basketball Types of Wagers and Stategies:
Straight bets are wagers on one event whose wager outcome is determined by a point spread or moneyodds. A gambler must lay $11 to win $10 on a single straight bet. If they win, they get $21. Ties are a push, no one wins.

Lakers +4 +140
Celtics -4 -150

If you liked the Celtics you could bet $150 to win $100, or you could give the Lakers 4 points and win $100 for every $110 wagered.

Bulls +130
Heat -140

Money lines are odds expressed in money terms. On the above example, Heat bettors must lay $140 to win $100, and the backers of the underdog Bulls would win $130 for every $100 they bet.

Future bets are wagers accepted well in advance. This could be a divisional race, a world championship, or races between two players.

Iverson +180
ONeil -200

ONeil backers would put up $200 to win $100, while Iverson backers would win $180 for every $100 they wagered.

Parlays are wagers of two or more teams tied together. All of the teams must cover the spreads.
