Types of Bets:

Future = A wager accepted well in advance. Examples of these wagers are the Kentucky Derby winner six months in advance, or picking the superbowl winner at the start of the season.

Money Lines = Odds expressed in money terms

Parlays = Two or more teams that can be tied together to make one wager. All teams most cover the spread.

Straight Bets = A wager on one event whose wager outcome is determined by a point spread or money odds.

Teasers = A type of wager where points are either added to the underdog or subtracted from the favorite.

A gambler must lay $11 to win $10 on a single straight bet. If they win, they would get $21. Ties are a push, no one would win or lose.

Straight Bet Example:

Panthers +1 +140
Rangers -1 -150

If you liked the Rangers you could bet $150 to win $100, or you could give up 1 point to the Panthers and win $100 for every $110 wagered.

Money Line Examples:

Colts +180
Browns -200

Browns backers must put up $200 to win $100, While the Colts would win $180 for every $100 bet.

Tyson -700
Holyfield +600

Tyson bettors would lay $70 to win $10, and Holyfield supporters eould lay $10 to win $60.
