TEXAS HOLD'EM Play starts by dealing 2 face down cards to each player. These are known as "hole cards". After this, a round of betting will begin. Most of the time these bets are "blind", which means that the player to the left of the dealer will make a bet, before anyone looks at their cards. Each player going clockwise can then "call" (put in the amount bet), "raise" (call + add to the bet), or "fold" (get out of the game). Next comes the "flop", 3 cards dealt face up in the middle of the table. Another round of betting ensues, with the betting starting to the player left of the dealer. Then another card is dealt up, the "turn" with more betting. Finally the last card is turned up, the "river", with one last round of betting. The bets generally increase as the game wears on, and the best 5
card hand wins the pot. Hands that are a tie split the pot, (the 6th
and 7th card do not settle ties).
